Airshow

Saturday J.R. and I drove down to San Diego for the day. While there we picked up J.R.'s cousin Rachel and headed to the Mira Mar Airshow. We were able to see the Snowbirds and Blue Angels, always an amazing show. We stayed for the night show and were fairly disappointed. The fireworks, however, were incredible.

Solana Beach

On J.R.'s training ride this Saturday he rode down to Solana Beach and took the train back. Pam and I decided to join him on the train ride home. The two of us took the train down. That was quite the experience.

What we didn't' realize was it was opening day at the race track in Del Mar. Because of this the train was first, extremely late, about 40 minutes. Secondly, the train was completely packed. Pam and I had to stand the entire trip. The final problem was the fact thatwe were about the only 2 people on board not drunk, at 11 in the morning. It was crazy.

So not only did we have to stand the whole time, we had to deal with a car full of quite loud people who were continually walking up and down the aisle past us. We were more than thankful to get offthat train.

We arrived a bit before J.R. and took a walk through the shops and down to the beach. Once J.R. arrived the 3 of us went to lunch and took a walk on the beach before we had to board the train to go home. It was an interesting trip, especially the first part. However, the rest of the day was nice.

San Francisco

This past weekend was the first of the family weddings this summer. For this one J.R., Pam and I made a drive up to San Francisco. It was actually a pretty quick drive, which was nice.

Because I never got the chance to really see the Golden Gate, we drove across it. That was an adventure. it took us quite a bit of time and took us across a total of 3 bridges. However, I think it was worth it considering we didn't have much else to do.

1st Bridge (Bay Bridge)

2nd Bridge (Golden Gate)

3rd Bridge (I forget)
That evening we met up with the rest of the family for some pizza. While there Jimmy, Jennifer, J.R. and I decided to take a trip to the city and Pier 39. We walked around for a bit then found a nice place to have dinner. We had a nice time.

Saturday we got up and had breakfast with the family. We then got ready for Lisa & Addy's wedding. The ceremony was really nice and the park they had it at was gorgeous. We all had a nice time.

Saturday evening Jimmy, Jennifer, J.R. & I ventured out to Berkley and met up with Kimberly and her boyfriend for a little tour of the campus. We then all stopped to get some dinner. It was quite the interesting evening.

The rest of the evening J.R. and I relaxed in the hotel. The next morning we got up and drove home. It was a quick but nice trip.

Fourth of July

Our 4th of July was pretty laid back this year. In fact, we didn't even leave the house all day. Sure we debated about whether or not we should go out. However, we had been out with J.R.'s family the previous evening and decided to simply stay home. J.R. BBQ some steaks and made a nice meal which we ate in the backyard. While eating, J.R. brought up a subject he has asked many time before.

He said it was such a nice evening we should spend the night in the backyard. I replied, "sure why not?" We set up our tent and got our air-mattress out and slept outside. It was an interesting experience with all the noise from neighbors parties going on.

It was really dark and J.R. was trying to hold his eyes open which is why he has a creepy bug-eyed look.

The next day we met with Pam and drove down to Santa Monica for the day. We had a nice lunch and walked around the beach. Our real purpose was to visit one of Hearst's houses. However, we were a bit disappointed with how little we were actually able to see. It was a nice day.
