Yesterday I failed to have my allotted amount of caffeine, namely my one can of diet coke. Bad, bad, bad idea. See if I don't have my one little coke a day, the next day I pay and I pay big time (Yes I realize this is a sign that my body is addicted to the caffeine and I don't care. I can handle one coke a day if it means I don't have to wake up to excruciating pain.) I woke up with a migraine this morning. Ugh. The second one this week and its only Wednesday.
To top things off I had made my dad a promise and I felt terrible even thinking about letting him down. So I crawled out of bed, took a shower and drudged out into the world all the while fighting the urge to puke. All because I love my parents and today is a very special day. Today is my parents 31st Anniversary. Last night my dad called me to ask if I would run an errand for him. I went to the store and picked out a beautiful bouquet of flowers for my mom and delivered them to her office. When I got to my mom's office she opened the door and told me to smile. I kind of smirked at her and said I had a migraine. That said it all for my mom as she deals with migraines too.
Despite my feeling like complete crap while I ran this errand for my dad, I did enjoy doing it for them both. Some friends of theirs sent them out to a really nice dinner tonight. I know they were both really excited about it. On their way home my parents stopped by the house and gave me their dark chocolate covered strawberries for my trouble. Yumm! my favorite.
I love my parents so much and am so thankful for who they are and the home they created for my brother and I. Things were not always easy, things still aren't always easy. However, my parents persevered through it all. I am so thankful for that. It is such a rarity in this day and age to be able to say your parents are still happily married after 31 years. They are such a wonderful example to not only my brother and I but to J.R. as well. I only hope and trust that my marriage will be just as successful. I know it won't always be easy, but I know whatever life throws our way we can handle it. That is one of the greatest gifts my parents gave me.

The Dark Knight
Yesterday, Greg and I went to the movies together. Just the two of us. I don't believe we've ever done that one before. It was nice to spend some time with my brother. He had been asking me all weekend if I wanted to go see The Dark Knight with him on Monday afternoon.
I knew J.R. wasn't up for seeing it and honestly I wasn't sure I was up for seeing it. I had heard a lot of bad things about the content of the movie. Yes, I kept hearing it was a great movie and I was certain that was true. But I wasn't sure if I wanted to fill my mind with the things the were contained in the movie.
So I looked up some Christian reviews on the movie here. After reading their review I was even more uncertain about seeing this movie. The review made it sound like there were torture scenes. I just can't deal with that. I can deal with death scenes as long as they are quick and to the point. That's probably not a good thing spiritually speaking but I'm numb to that type of violence on screen. However, torture scenes are completely different. I shudder at even the thought of those. I can't handle them and even look away to avoid them in movies and shows.
Monday I woke up with a migraine. Crap. It wasn't bad but it was annoying me. I couldn't sleep anymore. I had zero strength so even doing something as small as sitting at the computer made me exhausted, but I still couldn't sleep. And sitting there doing nothing is no good because that just causes me to focus on the pain.
So despite having a migraine and my hesitation of the content of the movie, I went with Greg. I really didn't want to let him down. I knew he really wanted to see the movie and I knew it would be my only shot at seeing it. Turns out it was a great movie. I really enjoyed it. The movie review made it out to be far worse than it was. Now I wouldn't recommend bringing children of ANY age to see this movie. However, it was no worse than your normal action movie. Yes, the Joker is a character devoid of any respect for life. But that's to be expected in a villain. Heath Ledger did an amazing job. There is only one shot in the whole movie where you can even see a resemblance between the Joker and Heath Ledger.
So anyway. A great movie and a nice time with my brother. Though I do think I enjoyed Batman Begins better. Greg disagrees. What else is new? :)
