31 Years!

Yesterday I failed to have my allotted amount of caffeine, namely my one can of diet coke. Bad, bad, bad idea. See if I don't have my one little coke a day, the next day I pay and I pay big time (Yes I realize this is a sign that my body is addicted to the caffeine and I don't care. I can handle one coke a day if it means I don't have to wake up to excruciating pain.) I woke up with a migraine this morning. Ugh. The second one this week and its only Wednesday.

To top things off I had made my dad a promise and I felt terrible even thinking about letting him down. So I crawled out of bed, took a shower and drudged out into the world all the while fighting the urge to puke. All because I love my parents and today is a very special day. Today is my parents 31st Anniversary. Last night my dad called me to ask if I would run an errand for him. I went to the store and picked out a beautiful bouquet of flowers for my mom and delivered them to her office. When I got to my mom's office she opened the door and told me to smile. I kind of smirked at her and said I had a migraine. That said it all for my mom as she deals with migraines too.

Despite my feeling like complete crap while I ran this errand for my dad, I did enjoy doing it for them both. Some friends of theirs sent them out to a really nice dinner tonight. I know they were both really excited about it. On their way home my parents stopped by the house and gave me their dark chocolate covered strawberries for my trouble. Yumm! my favorite.

I love my parents so much and am so thankful for who they are and the home they created for my brother and I. Things were not always easy, things still aren't always easy. However, my parents persevered through it all. I am so thankful for that. It is such a rarity in this day and age to be able to say your parents are still happily married after 31 years. They are such a wonderful example to not only my brother and I but to J.R. as well. I only hope and trust that my marriage will be just as successful. I know it won't always be easy, but I know whatever life throws our way we can handle it. That is one of the greatest gifts my parents gave me.
